Artist Tour with Sara Olshansky

August 11, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free and open to the public

We are pleased to invite you to join artist Sara Olshansky for a tour of her works currently on view at 21c Museum Hotel Louisville and Moremen Gallery. We will begin at 21c Louisville, where Olshansky’s drawings An Embrace of Sorts and Sarah and Stephen are featured in the exhibition Still, Life! Mourning, Meaning, Mending. In these double-portrait drawings, Olshansky collapses past, present, and future, condensing time onto one plane. The artist writes, “Just as we document time in our own minds, the drawing process materializes temporality through erasure and addition of mark.”

Next, we will walk to Moremen Gallery, located next to 21c at 710 W Main St, to continue the conversation around Olshansky’s works on view in the exhibition The Textures of Memory which features works that draw upon a collection of 50 photographs of a garden taken three years ago. The photographs began as reference material for a series of paintings and drawings by Olshansky and as the body of work progressed, a connection between the cycles of nature and lives of memories became apparent. Plants and memories grow and decay, but most importantly, and as they whither they fertilize the grounds for richer experience to take place.

Please join us for this opportunity to talk with the artist about her works.
Free and open to the public. Meet in the Lobby Gallery at 21c Museum Hotel (700 W Main St).
