Continue on your journey with a visit to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, enjoy both inside galleries and an outdoor sculpture park if your little ones aren’t quite ready to use their “inside voice.” The whole family will like spending time at Union Station– with Science City, The Arvin Gottlieb Planetarium, and more there are plenty of activities up the fun (and learning!). You can’t miss out on a visit to the American Jazz Musuem– it’s only right to learn about this history of jazz when you’re in Kansas City!
Does your family lean on the adventurous side? Take them to IFLY, Kansas City’s own indoor skydiving facility, for a one-of-a-kind experience. Looking to keep to the laws of gravity? Perhaps a visit to the KC Zoo for an animal adventure, or maybe LEGOLAND Discovery Center is the perfect spot for your family. What about exploring the great outdoors? Don’t miss out on the crown jewel of the KC Park System, Swope Park. With 1,805 acres there are all kinds of things for you and your family to do-including a dog park incase you brought the furry member of your family along with you! With connections that take you across the river into Kansas, walk the Riverfront Heritage Trail, stretching over 8 miles this trail showcases the city’s heritage and the redevelopment happening to downtown areas.
Now that your stomach is grumbling from all these fun activities, let’s talk food. You have probably heard Barbecue come up a time or two when hearing about Kansas City, check out Jones BBQ or Harp Barbecue. But hey, Kansas City is more than just good barbecue, leave room to try some of our other local favorites.
