PRESS RELEASE – 21c Museum Hotel Bentonville has been named to the Travel + Leisure 500, The World’s Best Hotels 2015 list in the U.S. region. The hotel was the only property listed within the state of Arkansas. The awards appear in the January 2015 issue and at TravelandLeisure.com, and are the results of the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards Readers’ Survey.
21c Museum Hotel Bentonville, located just north of the town square on A Street, is a combination boutique hotel, contemporary art museum and restaurant modeled after the award-winning flagship in Louisville, Kentucky. The focal point of 21c is 12,000 square feet of museum, meeting and event space. With a commitment to bringing works of art to the public that ignite the mind and fuel creativity, the museum exhibition space is
integrated seamlessly throughout the property. The museum is dedicated to contemporary art and is open free of charge to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 21c is also home to The Hive restaurant, led by chef and Arkansas native Matthew McClure. Under McClure’s direction, The Hive emphasizes the unique culinary identity of Arkansas, while articulating McClure’s approach to refined country cuisine. Designed by Deborah Berke Partners, 21c is a combination of public gallery space and home, with high ceilings, generously sized rooms and an abundance of natural light from windows, skylights and an interior courtyard. The property’s public and gallery spaces are elegant and modern with cool tones and polished concrete floors, while guest rooms, also designed by Berke, offer a distinctly residential feel with custom-designed furniture in subtle neutral tones.

About the Travel + Leisure 500 World’s Best Hotels
A questionnaire developed by the editors of Travel + Leisure, in association with ROI Research Inc., was made available to Travel + Leisure readers at TLWorldsBest.com from December 15, 2013, to March 31, 2014. Readers were invited to participate through Travel + Leisure magazine (January, February, and March issues), and online at TravelandLeisure.com. To protect the integrity of the data, after March 31, 2014, respondents were screened by Travel + Leisure and responses from any identified travel-industry professionals who completed the survey were eliminated from the final tally. The survey website, TLWorldsBest.com, was maintained, monitored, and kept secure by ROI Research Inc., which collected and tabulated the responses and kept them confidential.
The scores are indexed averages of responses concerning applicable characteristics. Respondents were asked to rate hotels on rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food, and value, as well as optional characteristics (for business, for families), though these ratings were not included in the final score. For each characteristic, respondents were asked to rate a candidate on a scale of 1 to 5, where “5” means excellent and “1” means poor. Required component ratings were then averaged, creating an overall score. A minimum number of responses were necessary for a candidate to be eligible for inclusion in the World’s Best Awards listings. The top 500 scoring properties are included in the 2011 T+L 500, published in the January issue of Travel + Leisure, online at TravelandLeisure.com, and in the T+L 500 iPad edition. Throughout the T+L 500, scores have been rounded to the nearest hundredth of a point; in the event of a true tie, properties share the same ranking.
About 21c Museum Hotels
The award-winning Louisville, Kentucky-based boutique hotel and restaurant group, was founded by contemporary art collectors and preservationists Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson. The couple opened the first 21c Museum Hotel in 2006 along downtown Louisville’s West Main Street, rehabilitating a series of 19th century warehouses. Much more than just a place to spend the night, 21c is an inventive union of genuine hospitality, thoughtful design and culinary creativity — all anchored by a contemporary art museum with thought-provoking exhibitions, interactive site-specific art installations and a full roster of cultural programming. 21c currently operates hotels in Louisville, KY; Cincinnati, OH and Bentonville, AR. A hotel is under construction in Durham, NC (opening first quarter of 2015) and Lexington, KY and projects are under development in Oklahoma City, OK, Kansas City, MO and Nashville, TN. The company is equally focused on creating unique, chef-driven restaurants that are as much a part of the community as the hotel. Currently, 21c operates a diverse roster of restaurants including Proof on Main, located in 21c Louisville; Metropole, located in 21c Cincinnati; The Hive, located in 21c Bentonville and Garage Bar in Louisville, KY.
