Something Old, Something New: A Creative Non-Fiction & Memoir Workshop

September 2, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Sunday, repeating until October 14, 2018

Find creative inspiration at 21c Louisville during a creative non-fiction and memoir workshop organized by Louisville Literary Arts. This 6-week workshop will meet in our galleries on Sunday afternoons from 1-3pm September 2 – October 14, led by instructor Martha Greenwald. Pre-registration is required.

What is the story that nags at you, the one that you return to in dreams, the one you haven’t yet dared to share? And how might telling it transform you? This class will help you find the creative energy to write the old story you’ve been yearning to tell and then use the fuel from that project to generate a new piece, hopefully one you’ve never contemplated previously. We will divide our 6 weeks together into halves, old and new, so that you finish the workshop with two drafts and strategies to strengthen you for the work ahead. Expect generative exercises, revision, as well as workshop discussion.

This six-week class will meet at 21c Museum Hotel, 700 West Main Street on the following dates:

September 2, 9, 16, 23, (No Class September 30) and October 7, 14.

The class will conclude with a student reading that is open to the public on October 16, 6-8PM at 21c Louisville.
