21c, 193 Sound, WRFL Present: Tashi Dorji and Cody Putman

Free and open to the public21c Museum Hotel Lexington, Institute 193 and WRFL 88.1 FM Radio Free Lexington are pleased to present an ongoing series of experimental music performances, curated and organized by Robert Beatty. August’s performance will feature Tashi Dorji and Cody Putman with Ma Turner and Robert Beatty. A cash bar will also be available.
Tashi Dorji is a guitarist who grew up in Bhutan, on the eastern side of the Himalayas and resides in Asheville, North Carolina. He improvises in a style that is equally disorienting and reflective in which his musicianship brings haunting beauty and mindfulness to the listener. After a handful of small releases on various labels since 2009, Dorji presented his debut LP on Hermit Hut, the label created by Ben Chasny (Six Organs of Admittance) in 2014. His most recent release is an LP in VDSQ records Solo Acoustic Guitar series.
Cody Putman is a reed player and recent graduate of the University of Kentucky School of music. For this performance he will present a bassoon quartet by L.A. based composer Archie Carey and an improvised trio featuring Ma Turner (guitar) and Robert Beatty (electronics, tapes).
