Join us on Third Friday for an opening reception and artist talk with Smashing Boxes, The Durham Storefront Project and The Carrack.
Fraqture is a community-wide interactive digital Durham Storefront Project installation created by Smashing Boxes on display at 21c Museum Hotel from May 18th – July 18th.
Developed as an opportunity to explore new technology platforms, Fraqture aims to engage both Durham’s public art and tech communities, while providing a unique experience to passersby on the street.
Fraqture features works from local artists selected by a curatorial team from Smashing Boxes, 21c Museum Hotel, and the Durham Storefront Project. Those works are manipulated by a series of algorithms written by developers at Smashing Boxes. The piece explores the similarities between glitch art and graffiti.
