Pack your bags! It’s time to kick off summer with a kid-friendly Memorial Day weekend in Cincinnati. Here’s your play-by-play to start summer on a high note:
- Visit the UnMuseum: On the 6th floor of the Contemporary Art Center, our next door neighbor, you’ll find the UnMuseum—a gallery of interactive art designed with kids in mind. On Thursdays, they offer special Art Play sessions designed around their current exhibitions. After each Art Play, you can stick around for kid-friendly yoga.
- Cross the river to Newport Aquarium: We’d be remiss to not mention the Newport Aquarium—recently voted the Best Aquarium in the country by 10best.com’s readers. Located just across the river in Newport, KY, the aquarium has something for every kind of adventurer. Whether you want to see one of the most diverse collections of penguins or cross the infamous Shark Bridge, the aquarium is a must-see for families visiting Cincinnati.
- Revisit America’s Favorite Pastime: On Memorial Day, the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Cincinnati Reds at home in a double-header. It’s the perfect day to introduce your kids to an American summer staple: hot dogs & baseball.
- Get a Taste of Cincinnati: Celebrating their 41st year, Taste of Cincinnati is better than ever. As the country’s longest-running free culinary festival, Cincinnati’s top chefs and restaurants will be serving up more than 100 delectable dishes on May 25-27th. With 45 performances on 5 stages throughout the weekend, the kids will love it (and so will you!).
There’s no better place to celebrate the first weekend of summer than with the Yellow Penguins.
