Wedding Wednesday: 4 Beauty Tricks for Brides

Natasha Burns, skincare expert & Spa Manager at the Spa at 21c dishes on her top recommendations for brides looking to stay relaxed and glowing for the big day. Below are four of her tips and tricks for the ultimate in bridal beauty planning.

More Water, Less Caffeine
Pre nuptials, many brides spend a huge amount of time preparing all of the logistics for their day, but one thing often overlooked is how you’re prepping your body and  skin. It’s been drilled into all of us, but we can’t seem to hear it enough, Burns touts, “You need to drink plenty of water and keep soda and caffeine to a minimum – your skin projects out exactly what you are putting into your body.  If you are drinking water, your skin will definitely reflect it with a healthy glow and a lot less congestion. Rule of thumb: half your body weight in oz per day”

Go for a Glycolic
Burns goes on to recommend that starting approximately 6 months before the big day, begin a glycolic peel series for your skin. She suggests the Glycolic Renewal Glow to be done every 6 weeks leading up to the wedding.  “The Spa at 21c offers this in a series package which lends itself to some pretty serious savings…the Glycolic will help to slough off any unwanted dry, and dead skin, and in turn give you a youthful glow.  It also helps with hyperpigmentation in the skin that can be caused by sun damage” and UVA/UVB skin protection is something we can never be too mindful of.

Body Scrubs Are a Must
Another easy tip is to implement body scrubs as part of a routine, this way your whole body will be smooth to the touch and also plenty nourished for your big day. Prep skin before applying a scrub treatment by using an emollient cream cleanser beforehand. We recommend ReVive’s Cleanser Crème Luxe, perfect for thirsty skin with the calming effects of Jojoba Oil, great for suppleness and softness.

De-stress with a Massage
Something many brides tend to ignore is the stress that comes along with planning a wedding. How can you combat this pesky wedding faux pax? “Be sure to incorporate massages into your regimen when planning the big event.  This can be one of the most stressful times in someone’s life, so take the time to care for yourself and get away a little bit, even if it is just for 50 or 80 minutes.  It will make you feel much better and bring clarity to your thoughts.” We don’t need to be told twice!
