Artist Bio: Anthony Goicolea

Anthony Goicolea was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1971 and currently lives and works in New York, NY. He received an MFA in Sculpture, with a minor in Photography, from the Pratt Institute of Art in 1996. Recent solo shows have been featured at Postmaster’s Gallery, New York, NY (2011), the Telfair Museum, Savannah, GA (2011), 21c Museum, Louisville, KY (2011), Aurel Scheibler, Berlin (2008), Sandroni Rey, Los Angeles (2008), Monte Clark Gallery, Toronto Canada (2008), His work is represented in the collections of the Hirschorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, DC; the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum of Art, New York, NY; the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Brooklyn, NY; The Groninger Museum, The Netherlands; and the El Museo de Arte Contemporaneo De Castilla, Leon, Spain. Goicolea is a recipient of the Cintas Fellowship (2005), the BMW Photo Paris Award (2005), and the Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant (1997).

A selection of Goicolea’s works are on exhibit at 21c Museum Cincinnati now, in conjunction with OFF-SPRING: New Generations.
