INVERSE Performance Art Festival

April 13, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free and open to the public

Inverse Performance Art Festival returns for a four-day performance art tour of Northwest Arkansas April 12-15. Each day the festival will present work in a different city within NWA, with venues ranging anywhere from inside homes, to galleries, storefronts, alleyways, and even out in the streets. Artists from around the world will present new work that will offer different ways to consider time, space, and body. There will also be many opportunities for the public to engage and connect in artist-held workshops, panel discussions, and group meals—in addition to after-parties each evening. The festival is free and open to all.

Join us at 21c Bentonville on Friday, April 13 for an evening of performances starting at 6pm.

Performance by Sarah Hill
6:00pm | Gallery 3
Entitled ‘NEVER’ the act of looking backward is a ghostly, impossible, and an unreachable act. Never is an extremely short but rigorous performance. Hill forces themself through the neon green, fuzzy, fleece and constricting tube that acts as Pan’s shadow. Hill will also participate on the panel for Lip Service on Saturday, April 14 in Fayetteville, and present a workshop assessing risk on Sunday, April 15 in Springdale.

Performance by Ana Cristina Araujo & Mar Alzamora-Rivera
6:30pm | Gallery 4
The performance started in 2015 with a memory turned into a poem. Now the artists are working in the challenges that physical distance bring to us. The performance questions the rigidity of borders and it embodies the deep listening of affects as a way of braking distance and strengthen memory in an organic way. How close is a body in the other side of the screen? How do we build memory in an ever-changing space? The public is invited to be part of a poetic (re)encounter.

Performance by Ayana Evans
7:30 – 8:00pm | Gallery 3
Ayana Evans is a multidisciplinary artist and originator of #OperationCatsuit performance art series. Evans will give a gallery talk at Crystal Bridges on Friday, April 13 from 1-2pm before performing at 21c Bentonville in the evening.
