ArkansasStaged Presents a Staged Reading of “White Rabbit Red Rabbit” by Nassim Soleimanpour

April 15, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free and open to the public

Experience a critically acclaimed contemporary play with a staged reading of White Rabbit Red Rabbit by Nassim Soleimanpour. Presented by ArkansasStaged, in association with Aurora Nova Productions and Boat Rocker Entertainment, the play is a playful, fascinating, and utterly unique theater-going experience. Denied a passport to leave his home in Iran, playwright Nassim Soleimanpour defied the cultural blockade by writing White Rabbit Red Rabbit in English and sending it out into the world to be performed by others. In a brilliant paradox, the playwright exerts deliberate and near-total control over an actor and an audience, all from his own isolation in Tehran.

When actor Kris Stoker takes the stage in White Rabbit Red Rabbit at 21c Bentonville, he will know just about as much as the audience will about the play he is about to perform – that is, just about nothing. He will have been given minimal instructions and told to prepare a very specific impersonation. The play will be sealed inside an envelope, which he will open and read cold that night. White Rabbit Red Rabbit has been called a play, but in reality, it’s a lively, global sensation that no one is allowed to talk about.
