21café: Johnston Foster Artist Lecture
June 26, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Free and open to the publicGather ‘round for a casual evening of conversation, cocktails and contemporary art. Whether you’re a budding young arts patron or just looking for a relaxed evening of culture, 21café welcomes all and is free and open to the public.
In June, please join us as we welcome back artist Johnston Foster, whose iconic work The Keeper helped welcome 21c Museum Hotel to Bentonville. Foster will discuss his past work, as well as his new site-specific, immersive installation, BuzzKill, that will transform The Hive restaurant at 21c Bentonville.
About BuzzKill
Artist Johnston Foster, who creates sculptures using repurposed materials such as plastic safety cones, construction siding, and other found detritus, will fill The Hive’s dining and lounge spaces with a larger than life, glowing honeycomb, kudzu vines, and a swarm of bees. The work narrates the adaptation of animal and plant species to rapidly changing environmental conditions, and references the folklore and fauna of Northwest Arkansas.
