We are pleased to offer two opportunities (February 17 at 5pm and February 19 at 11am) for you to join artist Ceirra Evans for a tour of her paintings currently on view at 21c Museum Hotel Louisville and Moremen Gallery.

We will begin at 21c Louisville, where Evans’ paintings Daycare and Preston Court Day are featured in the exhibition Still, Life! Mourning, Meaning, Mending. Created in 2021 as part of Evans’ series Folklore, these works consider how stories are shared and carried through oral storytelling and use humor to call attention to the negative stereotypes about people in Appalachia often held by those outside the region. Next, we will walk to Moremen Gallery, located next to 21c at 710 W Main St, to continue the conversation around Evans’ works on view in the exhibition It’s Okay to Go Home. The nine paintings by Evans included in this exhibition continue the artist’s nuanced and humorous personal exploration of the Appalachian region of Kentucky where she was born and raised.

Free and open to the public. Meet in the Lobby Gallery at 21c Museum Hotel (700 W Main St).
