Join us for a tour of 21c Museum’s latest exhibition, featuring a decade of work by first generation Cuban American artist Anthony Goicolea. Goicolea is one of the most celebrated, respected artists working today. He has exhibited widely in group and solo exhibitions at venues throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, and his work is held in many public collections, including those of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Goicolea is now living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Employing a variety of media, the artist explores themes ranging from personal history and identity, to cultural tradition and heritage, to alienation and displacement. His diverse body of work encompasses digitally manipulated self-portraits, landscapes, and narrative tableaux executed in a variety of media, including black-and-white and color photography, sculpture and video installations, and multi-layered drawings on Mylar.
This exhibition is organized jointly by the North Carolina Museum of Art, Raleigh, and Telfair Museums, Savannah, in collaboration with 21c Museum, Louisville.
