Join us on Third Friday for the official opening of our newest exhibition by artist Leah Sobsey. Sobsey is an artist and educator from Chapel Hill, N.C. with a background in anthropology and studio art. Using both digital technologies and 19^th century techniques, Sobsey’s art merges her two interests to illuminate forgotten histories of natural and human worlds and transform the national park collections she studies into vital representations of our present moment. The artist notes, “My current focus on national parks is a way of preserving these fragile specimens that represent American history. This comes at a time when climate change and funding allocations threaten indigenous species and artifacts with extinction.”
