Free and open to the publicGather ’round for a casual evening of conversation and contemporary art. Whether you’re a budding young arts patron, or just looking for a relaxed evening of culture, 21café welcomes all and is free and open to the public. Grab a libation at The Hive’s bar and join us in Gallery 3 for an Artist Spotlight with Berlin-based, Swiss artist Nina Staehli featuring a performance, lecture & film screening of “Occupy ORF.”
About the artist: Nina Staehli has created a complex and independent oeuvre between sculptures, performances, film, theatre, literature and photography. Her extensive work cycles often start with her sculptures which she then transforms into multiple levels of interpretation. With a strong background in theater, she develops characters and biographies and begins the transition into performances, films, theatre, literature and photography. By going through these processes, she establishes endless layers of interpretation and meaning. Once she is “on the road” with her work cycle, she also challenges her visitors. Nina Staehli does not believe in an elitist approach toward art. With her performances and public interventions, she involves her viewers on the spot and retrieves direct feedback for further developments. Staehli is currently completing an art research residency focused on the Trail of Tears project.
