About the Exhibition
Mirrored surfaces and intersecting patterns of forms and imagery animate the site-specific art integrated into the 16-story art deco building that has transformed into 21c Museum Hotel Durham. Working with glass, plastic, acrylic foil, tile, and found objects, the artists commissioned here reference nature, technology, economics, politics, and entertainment to illuminate the evolution of the past into a future-focused present.

LOBBY: Claire Shegog (British), Busby’s Southern Belles, Busby’s Niqabs, Busby’s Pink Flamingos. Hand-painted figurines on painted metallic bases, glass tabletop.
VAULT: Leslie Lyons and JB Wilson (American), BANK (Unswept Floor series). 305 ceramic tiles, each 12 by 12 inches.
