Referencing paper currency in shape and design, Chris Doyle’s Unfolded belongs to the same body of work as Waste_Generation (2010), the animation featured in the video lounge as part of the inaugural exhibition, Hybridity: The New Frontier. Waste_Generation charts the cyclical evolution of paper, from tree to pulp to paper to currency and beyond.
About the artist
Chris Doyle is a multidisciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, New York. He received a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design in 1985. His work has recently been featured in solo exhibitions at Catharine Clark Gallery, San Francisco, CA (2012); the U.S. Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina (2012); Sam Lee Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2011); the Ambassador’s Residence, Stockholm (2011); and Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York, NY (2010). Doyle’s permanent public art projects include Shower Shade at the Police & Fire Training Academy, Austin, TX (2010); Culver City Currency at Westfield, Culver City, CA (2009); Ecstatic City Tampa at the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, FL (2009); and The Moons, an outdoor video installation at Sprint Arena, Kansas City, MO (2007). In addition to being awarded a New York State Council for the Arts Grant in Film and Video (2002), a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Multidisciplinary Work (2001), and a Creative Capital Foundation Grant in Visual Art (2001), Doyle was awarded Macdowell Colony fellowships in 2005, 2001, 1998, 1996, and 1991.

Mattia Bonetti was born in Lugano, Switzerland, in 1952, and currently lives and works in Paris. He received formal training as a designer at the Centro Scolastico per l’Industria Artistica in Lugano. After moving to Paris in 1973, he worked as a textile designer, style consultant, and art photographer. Since 1979, he has worked as a furniture designer and decorator, and has created several collections of furniture and objects, both as unique and limited edition productions. Bonetti’s work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Duke & Duke, Los Angeles (2011); Paul Kasmin Gallery, New York (2010); David Gill Gallery, London (2008); and Galerie Cat-Berro, Paris (2008). His work is included in the collections of the Centre Pompidou in Paris; the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, New York, NY; and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Rob Wynne was born in 1950 in New York, where he currently lives and works. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Locks Gallery, Philadelphia, PA (2008); JGM. Galerie, Paris, France (2008); Craig Starr Associates, New York, NY (2006); and Galerie Edward Mitterrand, Geneva, Switzerland (2001). In 2007, he created a permanent installation at the DIOR Headquarters, Paris, France. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of Art, and the New York Public Library’s Spencer Collection, all New York, NY; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Fondation D’Art Contemporain Guerlain, Les Menuls, France; and the Bibliothèque National, Paris.
