About the Exhibition
In conjunction with IdeaFestival, 21c is presenting works by artists participating in the 2016 conference at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, September 27-30. Each of these artists has been awarded a grant from the Creative Capital Foundation: Jeffrey Gibson, Heather Dewey-Hagborg, Phillip Andrew Lewis,Ricardo Rivera / Klip Collective, and Shawn Peters.
A shared commitment to supporting visionary contemporary art and ideas has inspired collaborations between 21c, IdeaFestival, and New York-based Creative Capital Foundation. Since 2009, 21c has organized annual exhibitions of works by artist grantees speaking at the Louisville conference. Over thirty grantees of the foundation are represented in the 21c collection with works ranging from sculpture, painting, photography, film, video, and new media art. Addressing a spectrum of issues ranging from environmental sustainability and urban renewal, social and economic justice, to science and technology, works by Creative Capital grantees offer thought-provoking perspectives on sharing our world and its resources.
