Elevate Artist Talk & Reception

March 22, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Come grab a drink and meet our current Elevate artists, Misha Kligman and Kathy Liao, to learn more about their work. Artist talks will begin at 6pm and be followed by a cocktail reception at 7pm.

This event is free and open to the public.

Misha Kligman received a BA in Art from the Cleveland State University in 2001 and MFA in Painting and Drawing from University of Kansas in 2009.  Kligman’s work has been exhibited in venues across the Midwest, most recently at the Elmhurst Art Museum, Elmhurst, IL.  In 2015 Kligman was awarded the Charlotte Street Foundation’s Visual Artists Fellowship. Additionally, Kligman is a founding member of Plug Projects – an art space located in the West Bottoms, Kansas City. Kligman lives and works in Kansas City, MO.

Kathy Liao received her MFA in Painting from Boston University and BFA in Painting and Drawing from University of Washington, Seattle. She was a recipient of various awards including the Elizabeth Greenshield Foundation Grant, Artist Grants from Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Vermont Studio Center, and Jentel Artist Residency.  Her works have been exhibited nationally in Boston, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Kansas City.  Kathy currently works and lives in Kansas City, MO and teaches painting and printmaking as an Assistant Professor of Art at Missouri Western State University.

Elevate at 21c presents temporary exhibitions of works by artists living and working in the communities surrounding each 21c Museum Hotel property. Elevate provides hotel guests with unique access to the work of notable regional artists, while featuring their work in the context of 21c’s contemporary art space.
