Candacy Taylor Lecture and Book Signing

FreeOn Tuesday, March 15th at 6pm, please join 21c Museum Hotel Kansas City, along with the African American Artist Collective and BLK + BRWN Bookstore, for an evening with award-winning author, photographer, and cultural documentarian Candacy Taylor. Copies of Taylor’s book Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America will be for sale at the event.

Taylor is the author of Overground Railroad: The Green Book and the Roots of Black Travel in America (Abrams Books), and she is currently working on a multidisciplinary project based on the Green Book. She is also the curator and content specialist of a traveling exhibition titled The Negroe Motorist Green Book in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES). The exhibition is currently on view at the California Museum in Sacramento.
Taylor was a fellow at the Hutchins Center at Harvard University under the direction of Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. and her projects have been commissioned and funded by numerous organizations including, The Library of Congress, National Geographic, The American Council of Learned Societies, The National Endowment for the Humanities, The National Park Service, and The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
Taylor’s work has been featured in over 50 media outlets including The Atlantic, CBS Sunday Morning, The Guardian UK, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Newsweek, PBS Newshour and The Wall St. Journal.
