The Weather War Film Screening

June 12, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

free and open to the public

Join us for a special screening of The Weather War, a documentary art film illustrating man’s attempts  to control the weather and harness it for his own purposes. In a blend of land art performance and road movie, Swedish artist duo Bigert & Bergström embark on a mission to stop a tornado with a contraption of their own invention. At the end of May 2011, the artists traveled to the United States Mid-West together with Canadian meteorologist and storm chaser Mark Robinson. Their goal was to hunt down a tornado and place an invention -The Tornado Stopper – in front of the approaching twister. This sculptural machine, built on a theory by Russian scientist Vladimir Pudov, radiates 100,000 negative volts and had the power to repel the positive charge of the tornado that causes twisters to touch down.

Metropole will provide beer specials during the screening with $5 local specialty drafts!
