Fabulous Freddie invites you to experience a new dance work that takes the audience into an autobiographical journey chronicling his life as a young Black Gay man coming into self-claimed greatness. Through his three superhero variant identities, Fabulous Freddie brings his lived experience to the stage for an unforgettable night of dance, soundscapes and wearable design. This multi-practice and multi-media performance weaves a story of healing, heroism and humor into a FABULOUS tale of alchemizing surviving into thriving and shining. The Chronicles of Fabulous Freddie is the capstone work emerging from Fabulous Freddie’s Chicago Dancemakers Forum Lab Year.

Frederick “Fabulous Freddie Prodigy” Leroy is a Voguer/Bboy in the community. He has been dancing for 12+ years, starting with breaking in high school. Throughout his career, Freddie has learned to grow and adapt with who he is as a dancemaker, experimenting with femininity and masculinity in the artist’s own lexicon of movement. Freddie’s dance journey is a self-exploration and healing practice in claiming himself whole through embodying his masculine and feminine energies as a Black Gay artist. By choosing to express himself through both Breaking and Vogue Femme movement foundations, he has opened a new space for an important conversation to happen through his body.
