Elevate at 21c presents temporary exhibitions of works by artists living and working in the communities surrounding each 21c Museum Hotel property. Elevate provides hotel guests with unique access to the work of notable regional artists, while featuring their work in the context of 21c’s contemporary art space. To view these works, please stop by the front desk to arrange access to the vitrines on guest room floors.

About the artists:

Eliseo Casiano

Based in Batesville Arkansas, Eliseo Casiano reconfigures family photography and oral histories into saturated paintings and drawings. The works balance between a sense of mystery, free association, and humor that present a narrative reflecting a Mexican-American aesthetic centered on the artist’s lived experience.

Neal Harrington

Based in Russellville Arkansas, Neal Harrington’s work focuses on the mysticism of Southern lore; mixing Americana music narratives with ancient mythologies to produce complex images reminiscent of stories told by the campfire. These works are part of the artist’s Bootlegger’s Ballad series, showcasing imagery that allows the viewer space to build their own mythos around the scenery and characters.

Sean Fitzgibbon

Located in Eureka Springs Arkansas, the Crescent Hotel is considered one of the most haunted hotels in the United States. Sean Fitzgibbon’s graphic novel What Follows is True: Crescent Hotel blends oral histories, newspaper articles, and biographical information into a stunning visual telling of the Crescent’s dark and bizarre history. Presented here are five original paintings used in the novel.
