The creative brainpower behind 21c

Founded in 2007, 21c Museum Hotels LLC is a growing company of passionate people that oversees the expansion, development, and management of 21c Museum Hotels nationally.

Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, Founders
As the creative force behind 21c Museum Hotels, Brown and Wilson have found success by using their passion and intuition as a guide in farming, preservation, philanthropic giving, hospitality, investment, and collecting and exhibiting contemporary art. Driven by their desire to support the revitalization of urban cores and to enhance communities by making contemporary art more accessible to residents and visitors, they opened the original 21c Museum Hotel and Proof on Main in Louisville and look forward to sharing the concept in new markets. Brown and Wilson have proven that art can drive commerce and serve the community. Wilson is the company’s Chairman and CEO.

21c Museum Hotels Team
Never one to follow convention, under Wilson’s watchful eye 21c has assembled a non-tradtional team of individuals with unique experience and exceptional talent to oversee the brand’s expansion across the country. With a wide range of backgrounds, the team brings a keen perspective to executing Brown and Wilson’s vision for 21c and maintaining the high standards that have allowed 21c Louisville to redefine the museum experience. A shared love for contemporary art and genuine hospitality unite the 21c Team, ensuring success in future ventures.

Deborah Berke & Partners Architects is an integral extension of the 21c Team. Architect and Yale professor Deborah Berke has a thoughtful approach to design – and unique collaborative relationship with founder Steve Wilson – that imbues the spaces at 21c with warmth. Though decidedly modern, the architecture and design of 21c encourages opportunities for discovery and always feels welcoming. Much of this is due to Berke’s imagination, creative adaptations, and residential touches.
