21c Museum Hotels Named as a Top Job Creator on Inc. Hire Power List

21c ranks among the top 100 job creators in the country

PRESS RELEASE – 21c Museum Hotels, the award-winning boutique hotel company and restaurant group, is featured in the 2nd annual Inc. Hire Power Awards, recognizing the private businesses that have generated the most jobs in the past three years.

21c Museum Hotels nearly tripled its number of full-time employees over the past two years, placing it among the top 100 private business job creators in the country. 21c ranks as the #1 job creator in the travel industry and the #1 Kentucky-based company. The company ranks #58 of 437 companies overall.

“Hiring talented people to serve our guests and to help drive our business is crucial to our continued growth,” said Craig Greenberg, President of 21c Museum Hotels. “We’ve created 215 new full-time positions in a growing hospitality company and have also focused on promoting from within. It is gratifying to watch our company and our team thrive in a culture of creative leadership and to be recognized by Inc. as a top job creator.”

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that only 222,000 full-time jobs were added in 2012—compare those numbers to the honorees of the Inc. magazine’s Hire Power Awards, which created 69,182 jobs between January 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.

“For the second year in a row, we are pleased to recognize the employers who are putting Americans back to work,” says Eric Schurenberg, Editor-in-Chief of Inc. “The Hire Power Awards are the only awards that single out job creators. We think it’s fitting to pay tribute to company founders not just for their business prowess but also for their immense contribution to the welfare of U.S. workers and the vitality of the U.S. economy.”

In the past year, 21c Museum Hotels saw years of planning and development come to fruition with the opening of two new hotel properties in Cincinnati, OH and Bentonville, AR. In an extremely difficult economic climate, 21c was able to close over $80 million in financing for these projects. The company grew from a single property in downtown Louisville and standalone restaurant (Garage Bar in downtown Louisville’s East Market District) to encompass three hotels, four restaurants and over 500 employees. Construction is underway for a property in Durham, NC and a project has been announced in Lexington, KY. 21c was also named to this year’s Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest growing companies with a three year growth rate of 673 percent.

21c properties have also received acclaim in this year’s prestigious Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. 21c Museum Hotel in Cincinnati has been named the #1 hotel in the United States and #11 worldwide, with 21c Museum Hotel Louisville ranking #8 in the country and #46 in the world and 21c Museum Hotel Bentonville debuting at #11 in the country and #75 internationally.  The awards appear in the November issue and are the results of the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice survey with an unprecedented 1.3 million votes cast this year by nearly 80,000 participants.  Each hotel was also ranked as a top destination in its region, with 21c Cincinnati listed as #1 Hotel in the Midwest and 21c Louisville and 21c Bentonville earning the #1 and #2 spots respectively as the Top Hotels in the South, which also includes such properties as the St. Regis Atlanta, Ritz-Carlton Charlotte and Blackberry Farm in Tennessee.  The rankings are based on the quality of rooms, service, food and dining, location and overall design.
