Please join us for a special presentation by Oklahoma based artist Romy Owens. Currently featured on the 3rd floor at 21c Museum Hotel as part of Elevate at 21c, Owens’ exhibition articulates the concepts behind her large scale public art project, Under Her Wing was the Universe. Owens will discuss the project (to be finished by the end of 2018) and her work on view at 21c.

ARTIST STATEMENT
This exhibition explores the aesthetics of Under Her Wing was the Universe. Some pieces are studies of how to use wire cable to create site-specific public art “string art” installations. Some pieces explore the prairie landscape. The materials used to create the work are photographs, paper, and thread. All of the work is sewn by hand, a process that embraces a skill taught to me by my mother. All the work created for Elevate articulate the concepts behind the public art project.
