21c: Tell us your proposal story.
Mandi: During COVID, one of the things we started doing was going out to eat one night a week with my grandmother and parents. At the beginning we would go pick something up and bring it in, and as time progressed, we started going out to try new places each week. In November 2020, we went out to eat like we did any other weekend to one of our favorites, Broadway 10. We have a strict no phones/watches at dinner policy. After Dinner, but right before dessert, I noticed my grandmother and dad both had their phones out. Jeffrey started talking to me, and eventually I finally realized he was proposing, their phones being out to take pictures made more sense. My mom and grandmother were crying. It was such an exciting moment, the staff at Broadway 10 brought out champagne and dessert and made us special framed picture to remember the evening.
21c: How did you meet?
Mandi: The short story goes- we met at a mutual friend’s house party. Jeffrey was sitting on the counter in the kitchen, and I was walking through. I noticed he was sitting alone, and went to bug him and seven years later, I never stopped!
Jeffrey: We met at a fraternity brothers house party. I was sitting on the kitchen counter top like everyone does at house parties…… wondering where everyone went. Then this girl walked into the kitchen and started asking me questions. After that night everywhere I went, she would happen to show up. She asked for my number and the rest is history.
21c: What were you looking for in a venue? How did you know you found the one?
Mandi: We were looking for a venue that was as all-inclusive as possible,- so they handled tables, chairs, food, bar, etc. The venue needed to have a phenomenal day-of coordinator and prompt in their attention to detail. What our pictures would look like was important, as well as somewhere that had a piece of our history as a couple. 21c is sentimental to us. One of our very first trips as a couple was to the 21c in Bentonville, Arkansas.
21c: If you channel some magic penguin-godmother magic and relive your favorite moment from your wedding day, what would it be?
Mandi: Our first and last dances
Jeffrey: My favorite moment was seeing our grandmothers being escorted by my nephew and daughter and waiting for my beautiful bride as she walked down the aisle. A close second was driving away in our classic 65 Mustang.
21c: What are people still talking about from your wedding?
Mandi: It’s a toss-up between how fun our DJ/dancing and how great the cake was!
21c: Which detail are you most proud of?
Mandi: There was so much thought and detail that went into everything. My favorite detail about the space is the gorgeous curtain that surrounds the room, it was the key design detail. Our invitations were one of a kind and so fun. For the day-of details, my dress from Moliere Bridal & Jeff’s custom suit by the Wardrobe.
21c: How did your wedding reflect who you are as a couple?
Mandi: I think our wedding ceremony itself said a lot about who we are. Both Jeffrey and I are very family oriented and are close with our grandparents. Both of our grandmothers were an integral part of the wedding. My grandmother escorted our daughter, Cate, and Jeffrey’s grandmother escorted his nephew Easton. Additionally, it was so important that both of my parents escorted me down the aisle together, and honoring Jeffrey’s parents in our ceremony.
21c: Which piece of art got the most Insta love?
Mandi: The arrows on floor three, the dancing girls on 2nd floor, and the penguins!
21c: Do you have any tips for brides-to-be to make their day as stress-free as possible?
Mandi: Don’t do things just because society or ritual says you should, do them because they make you happy and they mean something to you. Find someone , your best friend, your mom, or your wedding coordinator, who is detail oriented and knows you the best to be able to handle any day of things so that you can relax on the day of.
21c: What did your guests love most about Oklahoma City?
Mandi: Oklahoma City has a rich historical background from every building to business. They have so many options that everyone is bound to find something they love.
