We haven’t been able to travel safely in the past year, so we wanted to create an experience centered around what we love most about traveling–food and wine–and bring it to you in Nashville.
This month, we go to Slovenia!
Slovenia has more than 28,000 wineries producing between 80 and 90 million litres annually. About 75% of the country’s production is white wine, and almost is consumed domestically with only 6.1 million a year being exported—mostly to the United States, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and lately the Czech Republic.
Slovenia is one of the most underrated wine-producing countries in the world. Thanks to its close proximity to northern Italy, many wines from Slovenia are passed over as they are hard to sell and pronounce, but they drink so easily.
September’s wine dinner will be an introduction to some of the coolest wines coming out of Europe. Chef Matt Bell and Wine Director Matias Yerrick present a four course dinner to accompany a line-up of wines sourced from this region. If you’re not already talking about Slovenian wines, you will be after this dinner!
