The Elevate at 21c program presents exhibitions for local artists, living and working in the communities surrounding our 21c Museum Hotel. Elevate provides hotel guests with unique access to the work of notable regional artists, while featuring their work in the context of 21c’s world-class contemporary art collection.

Holding Patterns

Connect: Collect is a national print exchange for artists working with traditional, analogue processes which annually seeks to connect printmakers across great distances. Each of the 30 printmakers in the 2021 exchange were selected by the project organizers through an application process in order to create a unique edition of prints that engages with the theme of Holding Patterns.

The 2021 print exchange highlights print and pattern. The rhythm of an action or image repeated over and over again is something printmakers can relate to, carving lines, tearing paper, rolling up blocks. The repetition can be soothing, meditative, or mundane. As we look further into year two of the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask: “what patterns and habits have you maintained, created, or abandoned during this time?”
