For more than a decade, 21c Louisville has been engaging visitors and locals alike with some of the world's best contemporary art. Just look up when you arrive, and you'll notice this ethos right away there, towering over 7th and Main street, is a double-size replica of David (inspired by Michelangelo). Once you're inside, you can explore the current exhibition; dine next to Fallen Fruit: The Practices of Everyday Life, the vivid installation lining the walls at Proof on Main, or sleep in Asleep in the Cyclone a multicolored site-specific installation that doubles as a guest room.
Five 19th-century warehouses live on as more than 9,000 square feet of exhibition space where curated exhibitions and site-specific installations reflect the global nature of contemporary culture. At every turn, 21c Louisville offers something to be curious about. As you approach, take a picture with Serkan Özkaya’s 30 foot tall David (inspired by Michelangelo); then, catch the falling letters of a poem in the interactive installation Text Rain by Camille Utterback and Romy Achituv, and don’t miss Ned Kahn’s Cloud Rings, which can be viewed from the first floor hallway window. Our galleries are open every day and exhibitions rotate, so make plans to visit often, and be sure to take advantage of regular cultural programming, too.
