On Wednesday evening, September 27, 21c Louisville is thrilled to host a reception in honor of the artists presenting at the 2017 IdeaFestival, held at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, September 26-28. The reception will follow the “Ideas on the Edge” presentation by Creative Capital artists Ann Carlson and Ghana ThinkTank. Ann Carlson borrows from the disciplines of dance, performance, theater, visual and conceptual art, often dismantling conventional boundaries between artist and subject. Ghana ThinkTank is a worldwide network of think tanks, managed by John Ewing, Carmen Montoya, and Christopher Robbins, creating strategies to resolve local problems in the “developed” world. Visual and transmedia artist Lars Jan will present at IdeaFestival on Thursday, September 28. The son of emigres from Afghanistan and Poland, Jan is a visual artist, director, writer, and the founder of Early Morning Opera, a genre-bending performance + art lab whose works explore emerging technologies, live audiences, and unclassifiable experience.
