Free and open to the publicTo celebrate the opening of OFF-SPRING: New Generations, please join us at 21c Durham for a special lecture by artist Angela Ellsworth. There will be a reception from 6pm to 8pm and the lecture will begin 6:30pm.
About the exhibition
OFF-SPRING: New Generations explores the role of rituals, both institutional and domestic, religious and cultural, in the development personal and group identity.
About the artist
Angela Ellsworth is a multidisciplinary artist whose solo and collaborative work addresses illness, physical fitness, endurance, religious tradition, and social ritual. Ellsworth’s recent body of work, the Plural Wife Project, navigates issues of the body in relation to gender, sexuality, and cultural histories of the western United States. She has presented work nationally and internationally including The Getty Center (Los Angeles, CA), National Review of Live Art (Glasgow, Scotland), Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (Los Angeles, CA), Museum of Contemporary Art (Denver, CO), Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (Scottsdale, AZ), and Phoenix Art Museum (Phoenix, AZ). Angela Ellsworth holds a MFA from Rutgers University, and is an Associate Professor at the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts-School of Art at Arizona State University.
