Sip & Tour
August 16 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Inspired by contemporary art? So is our Metropole beverage team!
Join us during our Sip & Tour on Friday, August 16 at 6pm! Our Museum Manager, Michael, will lead you on a guided tour through our current exhibition, ‘The SuperNatural’, while you enjoy a delicious cocktail inspired by the artwork on display.
This month’s cocktail, Theotokos, is inspired by Transmutation II (Gold Dome) by Elena Dorfman – exploring a “once splintered, ultimately resurrected” familial connection to the land pictured and to Orthodox Christianity. Theotokos, meaning “Mother of God” in reference to the Virgin Mary, uses pomegranates in different forms to pay homage to this rich historical and symbolic connection to Albanian culture. Pomegranate is considered both a food source and a symbol of prosperity, fertility, and tradition – all three of which connect to Orthodox Christianity’s belief in the concepts of resurrection and eternal life, connections that are also referenced in the artist’s focus on fracture and resurrection, and in the revival of religious freedoms in the Albanian Orthodox Church follow the fall of communism in 1991.
Tickets: Tickets are $20 and include the guided tour and an art inspired cocktail. (Sip & Tours have a maximum capacity be sure to buy your ticket early. Attendees must be 21+) Snag your tickets here: https://bit.ly/3WH2Jkm
