About the Exhibition

In the Proof bar, Louisville’s artistic community is celebrated through Ross Gordon’s portraits of artists, collectors, and curators active in the local cultural scene. The restaurant features new works by artists from the US, Sweden, and Australia. Focusing on landscape, fishing, and the impact of natural disasters, Annie Langan and Michael Cevoli explore the culture of place and the impact of geography on communities in rural Kentucky and along the New England coast. David Magnusson spent time photographing and interviewing participants in “purity balls” hosted in Louisiana, Colorado, and Arizona, during which fathers and daughters pledge to “live pure lives before God.” Meanwhile, Vee Speers’ photographic series Birthday Party and Bulletproof explore how costumes and play allow children to try on different identities.
