PRESS RELEASE – 21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati’s rooftop Cocktail Terrace is officially open for the season. The terrace is located on the property’s 11th floor and offers stunning views of downtown Cincinnati and the surrounding area. The menu focuses on cocktails and also offers a small selection of snacks from chef Michael Paley and his team at Metropole.

Cocktail Terrace features a rotating lineup of refreshing and tasty “poptails.” These cooling popsicles act as ice, slowly melting into the accompanying cocktail. Offerings include Strawberry Mint served with Old Forester Bourbon; Lavender Blueberry Lemon served in vodka and Limoncello and two takes on classic summertime drinks, an Avocado Margarita and Piña Colada. The menu also includes a rotating selection of warm weather cocktails including The Colonel with Bourbon, Luxardo cherry and orange and the Rum Dinger with rum, cantaloupe, basil and citrus.

Guests will access the Cocktail Terrace via a specially marked door off Gano Alley and will ride the service elevator to the rooftop. Cocktail Terrace is open Tuesday – Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

About 21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati
21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati is a combination boutique hotel, contemporary art museum and restaurant modeled after the award-winning 21c Museum Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. Designed by New York-based architecture firm Deborah Berke Partners, the property is housed in the former Metropole Hotel, a 100 year-old historic landmark in Downtown Cincinnati. Building on its mission of engaging the public with contemporary art and supporting the revitalization of American downtowns, 21c Museum Hotels renovated the Metropole, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, restoring this it into a beautiful public space while following federal standards for historic rehabilitation. The design of the hotel preserves many of the building’s original features, including a sweeping staircase leading to the second floor ballroom, original mosaic tile floors and the exterior terra cotta tile. The 156-room property features 8,000 square feet of exhibition, meeting and event space and presents rotating curated exhibitions, dynamic public art installations and cultural programs. Exhibition space is open to the public free of charge. The property is also home to Metropole restaurant, led by executive chef Michael Paley, with a menu built around dishes cooked in a custom-built, wood-burning fireplace. Guests and locals alike will also enjoy The Spa at 21c, which offers three treatment suites and a variety of treatments from facials to spa packages.

The Magazine’s Editors Chose 154 of the Best New Hotels from Around the World

PRESS RELEASE – 21c Museum Hotel Cincinnati was named to Condé Nast Traveler’s prestigious Hot List; it was announced today by Steve Wilson, co-founder and CEO of 21c Museum Hotels. The hotel, combining an 8,000 square foot contemporary art museum, 156-room boutique hotel and Metropole restaurant, is one of 154 properties from around the world to make the list of the Best New Hotels of 2013. Of those properties, only 16 were in the U.S. This year, Condé Nast Traveler editors traveled anonymously to 57 countries to visit 201 new hotels, evaluating each on a standard set of criteria including service, food, atmosphere, and amenities. The 17th annual Hot List is published in the May 2013 issue of the magazine.

21c Museum Hotel design architect Deborah Berke was also recognized as an industry tastemaker in the issue. Berke of Deborah Berke Partners created a space that is both historic and contemporary, respecting the character of the once grand hotel, while creating a space to show the work of living artists. Berke collaborated with executive architect Alan Weiskopf of Perfido Weiskopf Wagstaff + Goettel, a firm recognized for their significant experience in historic preservation projects. The design integrates many of the building’s original features, including the exterior terra cotta tile, a sweeping staircase leading to the second floor ballroom and the original mosaic tile floors in the restaurant and elevator lobby. Deborah Berke Partners also served as the design architect for the Louisville property, which opened in 2006 and 21c Bentonville, which opened in February of this year.

About 21c Museum Hotels
21c Museum Hotels was founded by Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, contemporary art collectors and preservationists who are committed to bringing works of art to the public through innovative exhibitions and programs that integrate contemporary art into daily life. These goals, coupled with their desire to participate in the revitalization of downtown Louisville led them to open the first property in 2006. The couple selected architect Deborah Berke to convert five 19th century tobacco and bourbon warehouses into a 90-room boutique hotel, contemporary art museum, award-winning restaurant Proof on Main, and cultural civic center in the heart of downtown Louisville. 21c has garnered praise from many notable publications including Travel + Leisure, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, National Geographic Traveler, and W. The most humbling honor has been bestowed by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler who voted 21c among the top 10 hotels in the world in 2009, 2010 and 2011 in the annual Readers’ Choice Awards. With the success of the Louisville property came opportunities for growth. 21c has opened hotels in Cincinnati, OH and Bentonville, AR and plans have been announced for properties in Lexington, KY and Durham, NC. Each 21c is unique in its site-specific art installations, architecture, design and restaurant. With a commitment to bringing works of art to the public that ignite the mind and fuel creativity, the museum exhibition space is integrated seamlessly throughout each property. There are opportunities to discover art around every corner of 21c: in the restaurant and bar, on the in-room Video Art Channel, in elevator lobbies, hallways, and even the public restrooms. 21c Museum presents a range of arts programming curated by Chief Curator and Director of Art Programming Alice Gray Stites, including thought-provoking solo and group exhibitions that reflect the global nature of art today, site-specific, commissioned installations as well as a variety of cultural programming. The museum is open free of charge to the public 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. 21c museum has presented more than 75 exhibitions including Hybridity: The New Frontier; OFFSPRING: New Generations; Blue: Matter, Mood and Melancholy; Alter Ego: A Decade of Work by Anthony Goicolea; Ann Hamilton: Bookweights; Consuming Cultures: A Global View; Cuba Now; Simen Johan: Until the Kingdom Comes; Creating Identity: Portraits Today; and All’s Fair in Art and War: Envisioning Conflict.
